There are only a few third-party reviews online for the NordicTrack S27i at the time of writing. Several Amazon reviewers praised the iFIT app for its wide variety of workouts and excellent instructors. Regarding bike-specific features, Amazon reviewer Benjamin Wolf appreciated the bike’s smooth, quiet ride and the auto adjust feature.

While the EX-5 doesn’t have a built-in screen, it does have a tablet holder that can flip 180°. This feature is great for when you want to do off-bike workout sessions. Our product tester easily accessed the app and found it comprehensive and user-friendly.

The lowest rating the Echelon Connect EX-5 received from our tester was 3.5 out of 5  in the ergonomics category. Our product tester found the seat comfortable enough, with good padding. “The level of comfort varies with position. Leaning forward made it more comfortable than riding upright,” he reported.

With its interactive programming and a few great add-ons, this bike makes a good Peloton alternative. The bonus? You’ll spend half the price tag.

This means you can connect it with the Sole+ app, which contains hundreds of workouts and uses your health data for more targeted workouts. 

Recumbent bikes are the top choice for a comfortable cycling experience, and the Sole Fitness LCR is no different. It features a large, adjustable seat that provides full back support. I wear a size 15 sneaker, and the pedals and straps are very comfortable. At 6 foot 5, the bike has plenty of legroom. The seat is easily adjusted from the sitting position and is very comfortable.”

While Sole didn’t mention the minimum height requirement, a user named Michael recommended that you be over 5’3”, or the pedals would be hard to reach. Several customers commented that while the Sole LCR is great for exercising, its tech needs an update and can be underwhelming, especially if you expect a boutique studio workout experience to inspire your workout.

The hefty $4,000 price tag is justifiable, given the array of innovations built to achieve this goal. The bike lets you modify your gearing configurations so they match your outdoor riding setup. Wahoo Fitness also developed proprietary shifters that emulate shifters from top manufacturers like Shimano.

A less-than-optimal bike fit can hinder your performance. For instance, improper seat height, crank arm length, and handlebar height can reduce your cycling efficiency and performance. (5) Improper fit can also lead to poor riding posture, which places undue stress on the body and may lead to injury.

This makes bikes that offer maximum adjustability, like the KICKR BIKE, a great choice. This is particularly true if you’re a cyclist or athlete training for a competition or looking to optimize your indoor ride performance.  

The LED display gives you an idea about your gearing combination and tilt. But since its goal is to mimic a road bike, the KICKR BIKE doesn’t provide a screen or even a device holder. That said, you’ll need to set up a screen in front, especially if you want to join bike racing simulations like Zwift or have scenic rides with WAHOO X.

Another good point for the KICKR Smart Bike is its broad connectivity. On top of the WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity standard in smart bikes, it features a Direct Connect port. This add-on lets you connect it directly to your router for uninterrupted connectivity. One downside is that the KICKR Direct Connect Adapter is sold separately. It also has ANT+ and ANT+ FE-C compatibility, which lets machines communicate with and send data to training software. It also lets apps control your bike and simulate your workouts in real time, giving you a more dynamic and realistic riding experience.

Our testers haven’t tested the IC3 but have done an in-depth evaluation of the model next to it, the Schwinn IC4. At a $699 price point, the IC3 features some add-ons, like a bottle holder, a smart device holder, and dual SPD pedals. Both its seat and handlebars are adjustable horizontally and vertically, offering an optimal fit for multiple users.

The IC3 doesn’t have a built-in screen or a companion app for workout videos and scenic rides, but it does come with an LCD console. The device can capture basic cycling metrics like revolutions per minute (RPM) and distance. It’s also telemetry enabled to read your heart rate. However, you’ll need a compatible heart rate monitor in order to benefit from this feature.

Another great thing about this exercise bike is its small footprint. Its compact frame, weight, and transport wheels make it ideal for people living in apartments or condos.

The 40-pound flywheel can also give you a smoother, more stable ride. Unlike the Schwinn IC4, which uses magnetic resistance, the IC3 employs friction resistance.
