Dr. Jen Roper, PhD, CSCS

Dr. Jen Roper, PhD, CSCS, is an Associate Professor of Health and Human Sciences at Loyola Marymount University. She received her PhD in Physical Education, Sports and Exercise Science in 2015 from the University of New Mexico, with a specialization in Exercise Science and Biomechanics. She has been a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association since 2014.
In the past, Dr. Roper worked as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and sports nutrition consultant, including writing for fitness magazines Inside Fitness Magazine and Ironman Magazine. Dr. Roper has spent the better part of her time being actively involved in sports and health and wellness, with a research focus of clinical biomechanics and sports performance.
She currently serves the greater scientific community in several ways, but most prominently as President for the Southwest region of the American College of Sports Medicine. With many hats that are worn, Dr. Roper still finds time to play beach volleyball, beach flag football, and competitive kickball, all while training for half marathons. You can always find her by the beach in Southern California with her lovable dog Darwin.
