Jessica Thomas is a health and wellness writer, public health professional, and business owner. She has a Bachelor of Science in Health Administration with a focus on Aging Studies. In addition, Jessica has earned a Master of Public Health with a minor in Public Health Informatics from Michigan State University.
Jessica has held various roles in the healthcare space. At the start of her career, she was a Talent Development Manager at a community college, where she oversaw a training program for those interested in becoming direct care workers. At the same time, Jessica worked at a hospital, where she helped launch and grow a volunteer-based delirium prevention program for seniors. This program used a combination of strategies, such as socialization, therapeutic activities, and exercise, to improve one’s hospital experience. The units that implemented this program saw a reduction in falls and restraints and increased patient satisfaction scores.
Jessica later became a Performance Improvement Leader. In this role, she kept track of hospital quality measures and worked with various stakeholders to implement change when needed. Around this time, she also gained a significant interest in research and writing.
Since 2015, Jessica has written articles and blog posts for several health, wellness, and fitness brands. She’s also assisted with the development and instruction of a Professionalism in Allied Health course for a top online career training school.
Jessica genuinely enjoys researching information and making it digestible to others so that they can implement evidence-based practices. In her spare time, you can catch her reading self-help and business books, trying out a new home workout, and spending time with family and friends.
