First, this could be an excellent mattress for couples, as motion isolation is fantastic. If you’re frequently disturbed by your partner moving around in bed, then you need a mattress with good motion isolation, as it prevents movement from traveling from one side of the bed to the other. Our testers weren’t disturbed at all by the partner wriggling around. Edge support was also great—when sleeping close to the edge of the mattress, we didn’t feel like we were going to roll off. This might be ideal for couples who like to spread out and use the whole surface area of the bed. However, we did notice some sinkage when sitting on the side of the mattress, which could affect people with mobility issues who may need a more secure edge when getting in and out of bed.
Hot sleepers and couples will appreciate the many cooling features of the Emma Hybrid Comfort. Hybrids are naturally slightly cooler than their all-foam counterparts, as their coil units allow for airflow. However, Emma goes one better by using open-celled, heat-wicking foams and adding a breathable cover. While we didn’t think the cover felt particularly cool to the touch, we did find the overall temperature of the bed comfortable. We believe it could be cool enough for all but the hottest of sleepers.
This firm bed offers little sinkage despite the foam layers. We felt more “on top” of the bed than “in” it, so if you love the deep hug of a memory foam mattress, we wouldn’t recommend the Emma Hybrid Comfort. However, fans of a firmer surface may love this bed.
We think it’s best suited to back and stomach sleepers, who may appreciate the support offered by the seven-zoned coil unit that provides extra lift where most needed. This is especially important when sleeping on your stomach, as the hips can sink out of the body’s natural alignment in this position if not adequately supported. Thankfully, on the Emma Hybrid Comfort, we found our hips were perfectly in line with our spine, which may help avoid aches and pains in the morning. We also experienced soothing pressure relief from the comfort foams while back and stomach sleeping. However, be aware that most light-weight and side sleepers would probably be better off with a softer mattress as they likely won’t experience the pressure relief they need on this one.
We will say that this mattress is a bit noisy—there’s a weird, plasticky sound when you move around on it, so if you’re easily annoyed by the tiniest sound at night, this may not be the one for you. However, the cover is fully removable and machine-washable.
Canadian shoppers should note that while Emma offers free bed-in-a-box delivery to most of Canada, it doesn’t offer white glove delivery.

Why we like Silk & Snow The S&S Mattress as best memory foam
Foam beds tend to sleep hot as foam naturally traps heat. Silk & Snow attempts to combat this by using breathable, open-cell memory foam containing gel that helps disperse body heat. Unfortunately, we weren’t too impressed by this bed’s cooling capabilities, as our testers reported that it still slept rather warm. This likely won’t be an issue for people who feel chilly at night, but those who overheat should look for a better cooling mattress.
Foam beds are usually good at isolating motion, but we found the Silk & Snow lacking in this department, despite the company claiming it has “zero motion transfer.” Solo sleepers and couples who sleep deeply shouldn’t be too bothered by this, but this may not be the bed for you if you’re easily disturbed by your partner’s movements. However, couples will likely appreciate the good edge support as it means you can spread out and use the whole surface of the bed without feeling like you’re going to fall off. The surface is also pretty responsive, making it easy to move around on, so it’s a good mattress for sex.
This responsiveness is also likely ideal for people with mobility issues and combination sleepers who switch positions while sleeping. On that note, while we think this bed is great for back and stomach sleepers, it may not be the best for side sleepers as it doesn’t offer much sinkage. If you only spend part of the night on your side you might be fine, but dedicated side sleepers will likely find more pressure relief on something more plush, which should be more comfortable on the joints. If you love memory foam’s classic, slow-moving feel, you’ll likely love the Octave Vista. The top layer of CopperGel™ memory foam releases you into a deep hug, soothing aching joints. The bed initially feels a bit firm, but once your body heat warms the foams, it softens slightly to offer excellent body contouring. Support comes from the five-zoned high-density foam base and Elastex® transition foam, designed to behave like latex. This pushes back against the deep sinkage to keep your spine aligned, which may help in preventing aches and pains.
We think this bed offers the perfect blend of comfort and support for most back and side sleepers. However, light-weight side sleepers might find it uncomfortably firm, while some heavy-weight back sleepers may need more lumbar support.
